Slow Down Ladies!

Normally winter time means chickens slow down when laying their eggs; not because winter time is cold, but because winter days are short!  Chickens need light, nay sunshine, for optimum egg laying.  Our ladies haven't seemed to slow down!  I'm happy that I have super chickens that don't need a lot of light to keep laying eggs, but I have to admit I was looking forward to the winter slow down.

Where we live, most of our neighbors have chickens and are looking forward to the winter slow down themselves, so giving our eggs away isn't an option right now.  Winter weather has prevented us from driving to Ogden and making special egg deliveries.  So this weekend we are eating everything egg.  German pancakes (not dutch babies, there is a difference), Quiche, Creme Brulee, Chicken Pot Pie, boiled eggs, egg salad sandwiches, and even Rascal is getting eggs for his dinners.  Why are we eating so many eggs this weekend you ask, we have 14 dozen eggs!  Yes, that wasn't a typo, 14 DOZEN eggs!

We want to express a special thanks to our lovely ladies!  We are always grateful for every beautiful egg they give us!  But ladies, we know you're fabulous and wonderful and totally awesome:  Rest from laying eggs for the next few months, PLEASE!
